Domestic Short Hair - Flower - Medium - Young - Female - Cat
Flowera six letter word that has more meanings than we think. A symbol of romance, ritual, religion, and medicinethe overabundance of symbolism that a flower possesses is over-radiating. We see flowers everyday; on our lawns, on the side of the road, on other peoples lawns. We use flowers everyday; at church, bridal ceremonies, weddingsthe list are endless. We associate flowers with spring and summer; the warm months of the year. Yes, we see, use, and associate flowers with a lot of things. Personally, when I think of flowers, I associate it with an orange and white female feline who became my first foster cat Its amazing how we always say no to something and then we wind up giving in. Its ironic actually because by doing so, we defeat the entire purpose of discipline. But, in some cases, the best thing to do is give in The pictures (above) are of Flower, my first foster cat. She came to my house, curled around her 5 eight-day old babies. Almost 2 months ago, I got a call from AWSOM, asking if I would foster a family of six. Although I really didnt want to open that door and foster, I just couldnt say no. If I had, they would probably still be living outside because at that time, we didnt have any more foster families. After I received the call, I went down to AWSOM the next day to meet my new fosters. The woman who brought them down found them under her deck one day. She safely delivered them to AWSOM, where we put them in a carrier and into my car as we drove away toward food, warmth, and love Flower had 5 babies; one female calico, one almost all white male, one all orange male, and two orange and white males who I could only tell apart because of the different white markings. As funny as it may seem, Ive always liked the Ninja Turtles and with four males and one female, I was able to name the babies April, Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo. All five of them have been adopted out into fabulous homes and each one is whole-heartedly loved. The only one who is still looking for her furrever home is Flower, the mommy whos overcome so much. First, she was a stray, scavenging the streets for food and shelter. Then she became pregnant and had five kittens under some ladys porch. Next, she was transported to AWSOM and then transported to my house for fostering. All of this happened in a mere 2 yearsthis sweet, innocent girl has never had stability; has never had protect. Flower has never known what it feels like to be loved, cherished, and cared for When Flower first came to my house, she was shy and scared. She would curl around her babies and protect them; she fed them, kept them warm, and trained them to eat, use the litter pan, and play. All in all, Flower was the best mommy any kitten could have. She did everything right. The only thing negative I can say about her is that she is slightly shy. The first day I met her, she hissed and tried to avoid me. She was scared; she was frightened. She had no idea what was going on. Why was she moved from under the deck to a carrier and then to a bedroom? Why was this strange new girl checking on her every hour? Why was this new girl even bothering to care? After-all, no one seems to have cared for Flower all her life After a few days with me, Flower started becoming better. She would still duck if I tried to touch her but at least she didnt hiss anymore. Once she realized I was the one feeding her that delicious canned food, she soon perked up even more. When I walked into the room, she would come over to me and rub herself against my legs. After a few more days of this, I started reaching down to pet her and at first, she did jump away but gradually she became tolerant of it. Now, after two months of love, Flower will purr when I touch her. Shell roll on her belly and rub her head against my hand. Shes more outgoing, more adventurous, and more loving than ever before. The day has finally come when I have to say goodbye to Flowershe was my first foster and as a foster parent, I must bring her back. Its hard but I cant keep every foster cat I get. Her babies found wonde
