Ranger Griffin was found roaming around a lake community, lost and confused, abandoned and alone a while back. We fell hopelessly in love with Griffin straight off and he is a staff and volunteer favorite and we have taken time to understand him, to truly understand the Bluetick Coonhound breed. We know that the family meant for him will also not only understand the breed and who he is but that embraces, honors and celebrates him! Ranger Griffin is a 4.5 year old Bluetick Coonhound mix, neutered, UTD on shots, micro-chipped, house broken and ready to settle into his new beginning. He is a really easy walker, very good on the leash and is contented to walk beside you and follow you wherever you go. He'll also happily jump into your car and drive off to the next adventure with you. He is a really smart, obedient, loving and social boy who really just wants to be with people. He loves to interact with people and is very respectful. When you throw the ball to him, he happily retrieves it and then drops it at your feet for another go-round. Bluetick Coonhounds are bred to be working and hunting dogs so Griffin needs to live an active lifestyle. Having a full time job is in his blood and he would be the perfect companion when hunting, jogging, hiking, swimming, tracking, or working outdoors. He thrives the most when he is active and doing. The trick is to not let him get bored. During the day, he needs to expel the natural energy inside of him. You will see the very best in him when he is active. Oh and Griffin is an intelligent dog too. He is the perfect candidate for training of any kind because he picks up commands so quickly and will eagerly follow direction. Coonhounds have an uncanny knack for problem-solving so Griff would be a good candidate for agility training. He is a really mindful, friendly dog but you have to keep in mind that his nose could get him into trouble. Because it's in him to hunt, his food is his prey and he can get protective over it. The solution is to simply not bother him when he is eating. He is good with kids but we would recommend no kids under 15. Even though he is dog friendly, Griffin would prefer to be the only dog in the home, to be the center of your universe, the recipient of all your love. Ranger Griffin has been forgotten for too long and he deserves to find his lifetime home. Faithful, dependable, strong, intelligent, watchful, good natured, easy going, affectionate, loving, loyal and devoted to his ownersthis is who Griffin is! This is the dog you will be adopting. Age of Dog: Approx. 4.5 years All of our adult dogs at AWSOM are spayed or neutered and fully vaccinated prior to adoption. AWSOM will pay for puppies to be spayed and neutered when they are old enough and that is covered by our adoption fee. We will honestly represent our animals to the public.
